Nou mijn hondjes liepen super!
it's been a while since the last time i wrote on my blog.
This past weekend we went to the Peel and Maas Challenge 2013. It was really good weather, really cold and there was snow. It Rocked!
I was signed in the sprint. Because I didn't know how long the tour trail would be. But my dogs really ran well! There was a high tempo, they only went below 9,3 miles per hour once!
Sunday was warm, rainy. So my doggies ran slower, but they still rocked!
We ended 20th out of 25 :)
Tuesday we went on a night run. But after a little over 0,7 miles i started to get a really unsafe bad feeling and so we turned around and went to the car

ziekte/health issues
Momenteel ligt het hier beetje stil door ziekte van mij. Hopen dat we een dezer dagen toch wel weer kunnen starten.
We're currently not going on runs because of health problems. Not with the dogs but with me. I hope we can run again within a few days.

Zeewolde 15/16 december
Last weekend we had a race only 20 minutes from our home. So we had the luxury of staying home and still participate.
We participated in the tour class that was 15km long. Saturday we started and they walked okay for how I know them. They could've done better but it was quite warm and the air humidity was high. And the trail was just really heavy and muddy. So there were quite sometimes I had to help them. We walked 15 km in 1 hour and 30 minutes or so. So it was slow for them.
1 km before the finish line my scooter just slid away from underneath me, and I fell, again on my sore left knee. Which now resulted in a more sore knee. But we'll out live that.
In the afternoon Fabian (our old neighbor from when I lived in Leusden) had a chance to participate in a childrens race. The race was like 5 minutes, but he loved it!
He ended 10th. But like we always say, it's about the fun you have and now about the winning!
So after the childrens race we went home.
The next day we were up early for anther 15 km. But it was warm and again the air humidity was high, and the trail was even more muddy. So after 4 kms Sky en Skoda didn't wanted to go on. I petted them, hugged them gave them a few minutes of rest, gave them water. But they didnt want any. We went up hill, and took a short cut. So we didn't ran the full 15 km, but only 12,5. We were gone for almost 2 hours!
But all in all we had a blast! We had a great time, the trail was beautiful but really hard!

a wonderful run!
Today we got up a bit late. I was feeling a bit ill (flu), that's why we didn't go out yesterday. The dogs really were excited. I had Sky in front of Kevin, on my bike, and Skippa and Koda in front of my scooter. There was no one in the woods, really we saw 1 car, and they were just passing through. But you don't hear us complaining!
The dogs really really really really ran well! We ran 14,46 km in 1 hour and 5 minutes! so that's an average of 13,2 kmh!
We even had long paths where they ran 19kmh. And even though i was braking a lot, they kept going at that pace. pfff!!
It was a shame there was no snow left. But we keep our hopes up! Since we didn't go out yesterday, we will now run on monday and wednesday :)

6-12-2012
you know, it's only 5 days till it's 12-12-12?
So yesterday... we started our run at 7.30 pm in the woods, with snow, and it was freezing cold 0.0C! we ran 13.10 km. After 6,5 km our average was 13.0... But then we had to turn around and head back to where we came from, and everytime we hit that point they go really slow, like 9/10 km/h. Which really crashes our average speed. After 2 km of going really slow we make up more speed. but usually don't end up going faster then 13km/h. Until we hit the last km than we go like 15 kmh. But when we only have to go 300 m. they give up and end up going 5kmh... Argh! And then to come home, and they start to play again! *sigh*
Skippa and sky were in front of my scooter yesterday, and Skippa finally started to pull. But on our way back he started to pull less until we almost reached the car. I hope he really turns around and finds out there's nothing scary in the woods. Just like i did. And I'm really proud of myself!
So today it's snowing! And they're loving it!

from 30-11 to 6-12 in 5 minutes
Okay, so I have neglected you guys for this past week.
Last friday 30-11 we had Baylee running in our team for the very first time. She's turning 1 on the 23rd of this month.
I put her in front of my scooter next to Sky, but she was a bit affraid, and didn't really know what to do. It was dark in the woods. But Sky just took her along. After 2 turns, Baylee figured out that she had to pull. So she did. And she kept running. So fast! She made 2 stops, 1 pee stop and 1 poo stop. Sky was trotting allong the way, but Baylee is not as fast as Sky yet, so she was in gallop all the time. After 1,5 km her tail went down, and she started to walk really slow. So we turned around, and started backwards.
Baylee and Sky now both were trotting. So that was really good. Only the last 300 m she saw her buddy Goku and her owner Gwen, so she started to fly again. But all in all she ran really well. We ran 3 km. Not that much for my dogs, but it was a long day.
Saturday 1-12 we got up really early to go to a winterfair. We had to give a sled dog demo. Once arrived we were placed outside, between pallets and other trash... So we only had a few visitors. Our tent didn't stay down, and all stuff. But all in all it was ok. So we decided to pack up and go home. Since in 7 hours of time we only had 15 visitors.
We were soaked to the bone, everything was wet, and muddy. And cold, even the dogs were really grumpy. It was too bad, because it would've been really nice.
Our winterfair pack:
Sunday 2-12 we had a resting day. we did nothing, except unpack.
Then monday 3-12 we had planned to train with the dogs. But I was really exhausted, and not feeling that well, so we skipped.
Then finally yesterday, it was snowing. And we went for a run. we did 13,06 km in 1 hour an 2 minutes. They ran an average of 12,5 km/h.
Skippa was by himself in front of Kevins bike. There was lots of fireworks in the distance, but he just ignored it! Way to go! But he was slow. Kept an pace of 12/13km/h i think. While Sky en Koda had an pace of 15/17 km/h. So i had to brake all the time, and wait up for kevin. Which resulted in a low average speed. It was really lovely and nice to be in the woods with all the snow.
Last night we had some sort of snowblizzard. The wind was blowing really hard, and it was snowing a lot.
So this morning we got up, but the dogs rather stayed in my bed.
We then went for a walk, but only 1 dog at a time, attacted to a flexible line, so
they had some freedom to run and play.

Yesterday evening we went for another run in the dark. Sky refused to drink her soup. She drank some, but not much. I gave them all 1L of water this time. Both Skippa and Skoda drank it all.
So there we were in the forrest in the dark. Really glad my Petzl head light works that awesome!
They walked really good. Especially Sky. She was really working hard. Skippa didn't walk at all. He just ran, didn't keep the line tight. Was walking slightly behind Sky. Thought I had Skippa and Sky both in front of my scooter. Skoda was walking in front of Kevins bike.
He was walking good, kept a good pace. Every now and then he slowed down a bit. Then waited for me to catch up. *he still has this attitude where he doesn't walk unless I'm there. If I'm far behind, he'll stop. And when I say 'hike' he'll run. But not if Kevin says it and I'm not there.
On our way back i figured it out, why Skippa didn't wanted to run.. 1) ever since he was a puppy he dislikes dark spaces. But last time, (Tuesday), we were in the forrest, and there was fireworks out of nowhere, and a helicopter. And it scarred the shit out of him. I noticed back then he was walking but not that happily, and enthousiastic. And now he didn't wanted to pull... But when Skoda was running in front of us, he was running a bit faster.
I'm really proud of Skoda because he pulled Kevin on his bike for 12,06 km, all by himself. And even more proud of Sky because she pulled me, on the scooter + she had Skippa tagging along. And she ran really really really well!
On to tonight! A friend is coming over, because we're going to a winterfair this weekend for a demo about sled dogs.
So we have another run tonight. And my friend is bringing her 2 husky's. Goku is 7 months old i believe. And can't run with us. But Baylee is going to run for the first time. She is 11 months old. So we're gonna run with her like 500m maybe 1 km with either Sky or Skoda beside her. Just so she knows how it's like. And how she's gonna do it :)
